Welcome to the

Institute of
Canine Psychotherapy

Changing the landscape of the dog behavior industry
through evidence-based methods, advanced educational resources, and humane practices.

If you are passionate about how dog’s think, learn, feel and want to gain a deeper understanding of dogs,
you are in the right place!

Canine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the only method that recognizes autonomy and agency, encourages self-regulation, processing and decision-making to allow dogs to thrive. Through cognitive exercises, CCBT provides the basis for understanding the emotions driving the behavior (ie - habit, learned behavior) to then address behaviors in a way that makes sense to each individual dog.

Why Study with I.C.P.

Hear What Our Students Are Saying

I have never taken a course that provides such individualized attention, applicable tools, helpful tips and guidelines, “real life” experiences, and advanced knowledge. This program sets a new level of standard in canine behavior education.
— Harrison O’Neill - I.C.P. Student, 2024
Witnessing a dog process and decide to continue walking without reacting, was so different from anything I had experienced when using reinforcement and rewards. My client cried tears of joy. She could feel her dog’s comfort.
— Jake Cove, CCBT Canine Practioner
My journey as a trainer started with a positive reinforcement certification, which was great, but I wanted to keep learning to better serve my clients. I engaged in many canine behavior related courses, and nothing compares to the programs offered by ICP.
— Susan Chapman - ICP Graduate, 2025
